Is Piscary free?+

Yes. The free tier covers unlimited catches, 3 spots, 5 photo identifications a day, timed sessions, the score and weather for today and tomorrow, the wind, rain and depth maps, your permits, the 474-species catalog, challenges, the community and sync. It’s funded by ads; Pro lifts the limits and removes them.

How does species identification work?+

You photograph your fish, and Piscary compares it with its base of species signatures to suggest the three closest, each with a match score. When you log a catch, an Identify button does the same from your photo. It’s a suggestion, never a decision: you confirm or correct. The analysis runs on our servers in France and the photo isn’t kept, unless you choose to help improve recognition — then your confirmed catches enrich the base.

What exactly is a session?+

A trip, timed from the moment you start it. Piscary records your route, attaches every catch you log along the way, and closes with a summary: duration, distance, track, catches, and the weather at the start and at the end. If you leave the screen halfway, the Home tab takes you back to the session in progress. Sessions live in your own journal.

What does Pro add?+

Do I need an account?+

Yes, a free account, with Google or an email address. It keeps your logbook safe and syncs it across your devices. Your catches stay on your phone first.

Does it work offline?+

Your logbook does — you can add and browse catches with no connection, and a session keeps timing and tracking. Your permits and public spots show up offline too. Conditions, photo identification and the map layers need the network; with Pro, you can download offline maps.
